Luxury Vinyl Installation

For premium style and durability, luxury vinyl flooring is one of the best choices. It is specially made to look exactly like wood, stone, or tile, so it certainly possesses natural beauty. Plus, luxury vinyl flooring is engineered to withstand wear, stains, and even water. Luxury vinyl flooring can be installed in two ways: glue down and floating. Each has its own advantages, but the result is the same long-lasting floor. Valley Carpet One Floor & Home has you covered when it comes to having a new luxury vinyl floor installed in your home.

Luxury Vinyl Installation Tips

The glue down method is considered the original when it comes to luxury vinyl installation. With this method, the vinyl tiles or planks are directly glued to the subfloor with a special adhesive. This adhesive is extremely strong and durable, so the bond is permanent.  As a result, vinyl floors installed using the glue down method will resist most impacts, including heavy foot traffic. However, the glue down method is only appropriate when the subfloor is relatively flat and solid.

Many newer luxury vinyl floors can be installed using the floating method. The tiles or planks fit together like puzzle pieces to ensure that the surface is flat and stable. Since the tiles or planks are attached, they do not need to be glued down to the subfloor, this is why they are referred to as floating floors. The entire installation process is therefore easier and less time consuming than glue down installation. The floating method can be used to install luxury vinyl over most uneven surfaces, except for carpet, laminate, and other floating floors. Typically, luxury vinyl floors installed with the floating method are more flexible, so they are softer and more comfortable underfoot than glue down floors. But, floating floors are usually more expensive.
